Houseplants always add beauty and grace to a, but did you know that houseplants also provide detoxifying benefits to your home by purifying the air you breathe?
According to a 1989 NASA study, houseplants can help improve air quality by removing
cancer-causing chemicals like formaldehyde and benzene from the air. Another study
found that the soil in potted plants can also help clean indoor air. Plants in your home
convert carbon dioxide into new oxygen and help purify the air. A well-known process
carried out by plants is photosynthesis in which plants clean the air by taking in
carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. Respiration is another process where plants
absorb oxygen and release carbon dioxide.

My Top Three Detoxifying House Plants:
- Philodendrons, one of the most popular houseplants, are also excellent air purifiers
and remove formaldehyde gases from the air. They can take full sun to shade if
watered regularly. Heart-leaf, Philodendron, and elephant ear philodendrons are the
best air cleaners. Philodendrons symbolize love of nature and are a great fit for plant
lovers or someone who has a strong passion for eco-friendly living. They also
symbolize personal growth and would make a great gift for someone who is going
through a major life event or making personal improvements - Snake Plant (Sansevieria), also called “Mother-in-Law’s Tongue,” is
very easy to grow. It can survive any location from sun to shade.
According to Feng Shui, the spiky plants are considered great to drive
away negative energies. When placed in an ideal position, the Snake
plant is known to bring protective and positive energy in homes and
offices. - Pothos plants represent perseverance and are perfect for people who are relentless
in following their dreams. Their vines grow long and fast with determination. Try
arranging your pothos in a hanging pot to symbolize reaching new heights and chasing
dreams.
Whatever plant you choose for your home or space, make sure you do your own
research. I personally chose the Monstera leaf as my signature logo because it is
known for its air purification, but according to Fen Shui it attracts money and good
fortune, not to mention I love their stunning leaves.
