Being the only mother of a special needs child in my group of friends, I often felt isolated and frustrated that I did not have people who could related to the every day challenges I faced raising a special needs child.
I would frequently wish that there was some sort of support group that I could join but then again, it was hard to leave my daughter in the care of someone else who was not familiar with her needs. This is when I realized that there was a need for an individual with the knowledge, expertise, and most of all, hands on experience to have virtual zoom meetings or phone calls with parents of special needs children who needed advice, support, or just someone to talk to that could related to what they were going through.
The importance of being able to help others “virtually” from the comfort of their own home became even more evident when the pandemic first started back in 2020.
